A Cinematic Journey: Discovering the Eye Filmmuseum

Located in Amsterdam Noord, the Eye Filmmuseum (formerly known simply as the Filmmuseum) is one of the city's most striking cultural landmarks. The museum serves as a cinematic hub that functions as both a museum and a cinema where visitors can explore the world of filmmaking through the intersection of different artistic disciplines. This February, the museum is an essential destination for film and art enthusiasts as it hosts a major, exclusive exhibition: “Tilda Swinton – Ongoing”.

Exploring the World of Tilda Swinton
This unique and personal showcase is dedicated to the celebrated Scottish actor, artist, and style icon, focusing on her remarkable creative collaborations. Visitors can immerse themselves in a magical environment where film, fashion, and art seamlessly blend together.

What to Expect
Each room in the exhibit offers a rare "peek into Swinton's creative brain". Highlights include diverse film portraits, a reconstruction of her London apartment, and a new installation created by Jim Jarmusch. Whether you are a fan of her transformative acting or her influence on modern fashion, this exhibition provides a deep, artistic insight into her career.

Plan Your Visit
You can experience the world of Tilda Swinton at the Eye Filmmuseum through March 15, 2026. Given its location in the vibrant North district, it’s a perfect addition to any cultural tour of Amsterdam.

And Amsterdam is no exception. So why not try and hit the ice when spending your time in Amsterdam during the winter months? Probably the most beautiful and pittoresque ice-rink of Amsterdam, and maybe even Europe, is on the Museumplein. Here you can skate right next to the magnificent Rijksmuseum. Unfortunately for the 2025/26 winter season the Museumplein ice-rink is currently closed. But there is a great other option to glide through Amsterdam this winter season. When you want plenty of space for ice-skating, the Jaap Eden baan in Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer is a good place to be and open ...
